There are many theories about the origin of hada. According to legend, in the era of Zongkhapa, the ancestor of the Yellow Patriarch, the habit of giving each other hada and showing respect to each other had been formed on the Tibetan plateau. Another folklore claims that the Buddha's light and the hungry clouds in the sky are signs of boundless happiness and good luck.

Offering hada is the most common etiquette of the Tibetan people. In Tibetan areas, weddings and funerals, welcoming and sending, worshiping elders, seeing Buddha statues, seeing off far away, etc., all have the habit of offering "Hada. Offering "Hada" means to express purity, sincerity, loyalty and respect to the other party. Tibetans entered the gate of the temple, first presented a hada, then paid homage to the Buddha statue, visited the halls, sat at will, and when they left, they still put a hada behind the seat they had sat on, indicating that although I left, my heart was still here.

"Hada" is a kind of raw silk fabric, spun loose like a net, and also made of silk. The top grade "Hada" is woven with various hidden flower patterns such as lotus flower, treasure bottle, umbrella cover, conch and so on. The material of Hada varies according to different economic conditions, but people do not care about the quality of the material, as long as they can express the master's good wishes. Hada varies in length, with the elderly ranging from 1 to 2 feet and the short from 3 to 5 feet. Tibetans believe that white symbolizes purity and auspiciousness. So, hada-is generally white. In addition, there are colorful Hada, the colors are blue, white, yellow, green and red. Blue means blue sky, white is white clouds, green is river water, red is the guardian of space, yellow symbolizes the earth. The colorful hada is the most precious gift when it is dedicated to bodhisattvas and close relatives. Buddhist teachings explain the colorful hada is the bodhisattva's costume. Therefore, the colorful hada is only used in specific situations.

The action of offering "Hada" varies from person to person. Generally speaking, you should hold Hada with both hands, hold it high and shoulder level, then stretch it forward and bend over to the other party. At this time, Hada is level with his head, which shows respect and greatest blessing to the other party-good luck. The other side in a respectful gesture with both hands flat. When offering Hada to venerable persons and elders, raise your hands over your head, lean forward slightly, and hold Hada to your seat or under your feet. For peers or subordinates, they can be tied to their necks.
