The Gedong Festival is a grand ceremony for Tibetan Buddhist gods and dharma protectors to appear on earth. On the 26th and 29th of the Tibetan winter month, local Tibetans came to Songzanlin Temple to watch the lamas dance with masks to celebrate the good harvest and pray for peace and prosperity in the coming year.
